What's A Tape Up Haircut

Century Ireland towards equality

" There is no barrier, lock, no bolt that you can impose on the freedom of my mind."
Virginia Woolf

hundred years ago the first time held in Europe on Working Women. It was in 1911 when the women decided to go out and demonstrate social inequality. All that has changed is the day. In that year was held on March 19, but later hiceron coincide with other countries to March 8 as International Day Women. There are several versions, and it seems that also the March 8, 1857 when it happened the terrible New York textile fire that killed many women, mainly due to working conditions. However this is not known with certainty.
dates shuffled also actively participating in the situation of women in relation to work in other years: 1909, 1913, 1914 ... (that if conditions were bad for everyone, it seems that for women were even worse)

The truth is that there is still no visibility of what happens to us, and that involves us all. There are facts in the world that are hidden under the gaze of a few. This is a reality that still persists.

Sometimes I go to the cinema to see films which are called "independent film." Last Wednesday saw " Women in Cairo ." Very sad, but full of realities. Also, somehow, seemed prescient at all the events in recent months. I thought ... the screenwriter, director, actors ... were uncovering what is already known to happen in Egypt, but was hidden in the invisible ...? In the film are reflected the lives of four women. One of them is the host of a program that brings people with different stories. Usually it was a program where they talked about policy community, but at the request of her husband, plays social issues ... it seems to be ... they are also political.
Anyway ... I do not want to talk much more about it, but it is very interesting, despite being sad. Collect great many stories of women very different from each other.

Normally during this week, I usually make a selection of films about women. A more realistic tones others ... And always with a touch of humor. Many of them and I've seen at other times. For example:
"Mona Lisa's Smile." A very good movie to work with women and see the different ways of living of many of them (especially over half a century ago.) The protagonists, usually take a series of decisions, which will be crucial to your life. These include education, further study, and / or have a good husband. Each makes its own decisions. A more freely than others ... some are left to handle, steer left so call "Right" and others live their own lives. There are also those who choose freely, perhaps it might seem inconceivable ... but they are all women who fight among themselves, to recognize and identify as a distinct society. Julia Robert is listed as the teacher of Fine Arts ... and from there ... the talk of the thousands of possibilities that life has access.
is an American film ... and yet, I liked.

always see Iron Jawed Angles . I like almost everything about this movie ... the music, actresses, what you show ... In it I talked a couple of years, I think, let review here.

also Caramel ... just beautiful, headed by a woman. It was his first film. Everything happens in a hairdresser ... very interesting. Then

Rodrigo GarcĂa movies I love: "Nine Lives " , "Things I said just look at it", "Mothers and Daughters " ... They all speak of the wife of a very special way.

classic films also look like "The Adam's Rib " ... and although it falls a lot in stereotypes, I think it is necessary to find a few moments. They are a couple of very good lawyers who are also husband and wife. They live a life quite equal ... but Everything changes when you have a case in which the presence of gender inequality is present. A sense of humor no longer present in the film .. and who has no desire to spend some time with Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy .

"Water" ... this film is full of beauty. In striking realism, but necessary .... There are tough times, but there are also color, joy, optimism ... the feeling that a better future can go. The director was so difficult to shoot the film in India.
is impressive and full of detail. And the words, sometimes on the eyes ... only to discover thousands of wonderful moments ...

also take refuge in some films I've seen a thousand times and that which is portrayed wonderfully social inequalities centuries ... And interestingly, many women of other cultures with I work, I say it still happens in your country. I'll choose the shelf and Jane Austen ... and including ... Sense Sensitivity and ... and women tell me (not all, of course) what we're going to be Mary? With those dresses so old, it should be a roll? Then stay engaged, fully understand that choosing a good husband, to have a secure future ... and they are the ones that are finally looking at the screen ... and thousands of questions about the author. And I to them about what is that to conclude a marriage.

After seeing them, there is always a kind of conversation, questions, debate ... that is the end of the day, the most interesting ...
More ... but I leave those for another day.

do Have a nice day Equality!
