Feeding Minds - Lewis Carroll

This is one of those books that are read in no time ... and leave you a nice feeling. I took one of those nights where you could not sleep. I think I drank too much tea and I was more awake than asleep, and the books they had about me not calling too much attention.

The book begins with "Breakfast, lunch and tea. In extreme cases, breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea, dinner and a glass of something warm before going to bed ."... Lewis Carroll we want to show we care more to mind than the body ... and comparing the readings we read with meals we do. Used by both a sense of humor to treat different types of food you never would eat at a time, mix with those readings. Speaking of "appropriate intervals" between readings.

"What?" What have you been doing with your mind the last days? What has fueled the recent days? What has fed? Is pale and her pulse is slow.
Well Well, doctor, lately I have had very regular meals. Yesterday I took a lot of sweets.
"Sweets? What kind?
Well as a package of puzzles, sir.
Ah, thought so. Now remember this: if you continue with this kind of mischief is all teeth rot and have a mental indigestion. In the coming days can not take anything more than planned readings. Be careful! None of novels and bills! "

Well the book does not waste, continues to offer some rules to avoid falling into obsessive mind y. .. have all occasionally dropping the odd laugh .
But the book does not stop there. It also tells us how to make a good letter. What counting, counting when to use post data. Many times you are / were used to count what really matters, perhaps because the topic was something delicate and it was the end. It's the most eloquent and natural. Recuerre just common sense to the overwhelming logic y. .. all with a sense of humor of the very best. I read it aloud to my companion ... and they could not stop laughing.

left wanting more ... and do not feel any embarrassment!

Without wishing my mind has gone to the streets of Oxford ... and where Lewis Carroll was teaching. I imagined that chooses one of the boats and maybe ... he comes up with the odd story. I do not know much about this author, but I imagine lecturing and people were there ... could not stop laughing. Recommended that we not forget to fill in the recipient, in the most readable as possible, and that we do immediately ... even before writing the letter because we have less of a hurry. Moreover, we recall as many do not forget to add that we say that we have "added" to the letter / package, etc. .... we would today call an attachment when you write an email.

After reading about readings and its good (as he called it when he gave the conference), I'm going directly to the street ... breakfast outside today. I love it! And even where I'm usually very rich coffee ... I need a tea ... I carry a bag. Sometimes ... not always, I ask an infusion (eg loss. Pennyroyal) with the bag out, and then put my tea bag in water hiriviendo. They know me and does not even need to say it. I always wonder what I bring and where it is, because it smells so good. Today I earl gray cream ...

LOS Pickles: Property ELABORATIONS

WHAT ARE THE PICKLES?

The pickles or fermented pickles are vegetables detoxifying effect and high nutritional value (the ferments well prepared containing folate and high in vitamin C).

Eat a teaspoon of pickles before and after the main course at every meal aids digestion, helps prevent gas (provided it is adequate chewing) and prepare for the operation of the gall bladder to digest the fats because they stimulate the secretion of bile. It is also beneficial in case of disease liver.

The pressed vegetable pickles with sea salt and other fermented foods, especially the miso, shoyu, natto and tempeh nourish the digestive system and immune system providing good amounts of enzymes, lactic acid and enzymes to the body.

energy level, pickles promote concentration, they activate the body and lose sleep.

the preserves and pickles pickled vegetable products for a long time, and has the advantage that its nutritional characteristics are maintained. Most vegetables can be pickled, and is fun to experiment with the least "typical" such as broccoli or cauliflower.

Become your own pickles! And if you have time, then buy them facts. Either way, make a habit of taking small amounts regularly (emphasize: little, if no one gets too yang! Words, tense, rigid and contracted). When you use unrefined sea salt for pickling of vegetables is a danger that raise blood pressure, so if it were the case of developing hypertension, pickles always be washed before eating or eating them without salt.

There are basically two types of pickles - the strong-flavored, salted, pressed or pickled for a long time and quick pickles, pressed or pickled a few minutes or a few horas.Ambos are important.

Pickles long as takuan or sauerkraut consumed in very small amounts (a piece or two or one teaspoon) while we take a little more of the shorts.

Maybe you've read that eating pickles can cause cancer ... This is debidio to industrially processed is added preservatives, sugar, refined salt, vinegar poor quality ... why it's best to make them at home or buy organic .

DIFFERENT TYPES OF PICKLES:

distinguish several rates between regular use and should be avoided.

are regularly advised to take:

Sauerkraut Pickles Pickles
shoyu miso umeboshi

Takuan Pickles
Pressed Pressed
sea salt with umeboshi vinegar bran
Pickles

Avoid: Spicy Pickles
sugar

Pickles Pickles Pickles
spiced vinegar

HOW TO PREPARE:

are very easy to prepare. We can do it in different ways:

1. sandwiched between two plates

2. pressed or macerating them in glass jars

3. with a special press for vegetables

- Brine Pickles

Boil 3 cups of water with a teaspoon of sea salt.

Meanwhile, chop vegetables finely and put pressure to the hub of the mortar with a strip of kombu seaweed 5mn previously soaked in a glass jar. Cover with water, cover and marinate in a cool place. You can eat at 5 days and ferment 15 days. The best known are sauerkraut, umeboshi and Taku.

- Sauerkraut (Sauerkraut):

Of German origin, the sauerkraut is finely shredded cabbage and crushed with sea salt. Its flavor comes from the fatty acid that is formed naturally during fermentation and in any case having added vinegar. It is sold in glass jars, vacuum packed or canned. In the latter case, having been pasteurized and lacks enzymes that pasteurization kills. Therefore, it is best to take unpasteurized sauerkraut. Preparation

step by step:
1 - Wash the cabbage and slice very thin half moons:
2 - Sprinkle a little salt in the bottom of a glass jar:

3 - Put a layer of cabbage and press for the hub of the mortar. Add a little sea salt over cabbage and press again another layer of cabbage in the hub of the mortar. Continue this process until you reach the top of the taro. Close it and leave it in a cool dark place for 10-15 days.

A good recipe with vitamin B12 GRILLED tempeh with sauerkraut.

- Umeboshi Plum

is an essential product in the macrobiotic diet should not be missing from the pantry. It is a sour plums has been pickled in sea salt with some leaves called "shiso" that give the red color they have (in the photo you can see the whole plums, umeboshi paste and shiso leaf).

The umeboshi is important as food and as a healing remedy if digestive problems, halitosis, poor appetite, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hangover ...

also has the ability to stop leaving the body fluids (mucus, excessive urination and menstruation, diarrhea ...). People with asthma can greatly benefit by following a macrobiotic diet and take regular umeboshi specific. Also alkalizing have a great power as protection against colds, flu and other common diseases that occur when there is a condition of the body too acidic. Umeboshi plums should buy good quality food shops and some are traded dye.

With

umeboshi can make sauces, pates or can be mixed with the vegetable broth, cream of cereal in the morning or tea Bancha. When added as a condiment is best not to use salt as well as in themselves are already pretty salty.

- Shiso Leaves:

are the leaves that come along with umeboshi plums but also sold separately. The shiso is rich in iron and helps in cases of anemia. As is very salty pickled shiso can be washed or soaked before use.

- Takuan:

a pickle very typical of macrobiotics is the takuan or pickled daikon. Japanese restaurants often serve as the filling of maki, but here it has to be careful as this kind of takuan (bright yellow) contains preservatives and dyes. The natural takuan is light brown. Because of its contraction properties (yang) is used for weak intestines and stomach distended (yin). Two half-inch slices enough as it is a very salty food, if we take over we could create cravings for sweets.

- Pickles in vinegar:

such as pickles, capers or pickled onions with salt. Personally I like to use as a condiment for tofunesas, but in small quantities and that vinegar is demineralized.

- Pressed Salad:

belongs to quick pickles. Here you do not need any kind of tool since it involves spraying a few drops of umeboshi vinegar greens (kale, arugula, watercress, radish leaves or mustard, lettuce ...) and squeezing them with your hands pressing it a few seconds. You can replace the ume-su by sea salt.

- Pickles in shoyu or miso:

Prepare a mixture of 25% of shoyu or miso and 75% water and let the vegetables marinate for about 15 days. Cauliflower is special in this preparation.
- Pickled ginger:

eating a piece from sushi and sushi is removed from the mouth the taste of different toppings or fillings. As in the above we must look not take sugar. It makes cutting very thin slices ginger and macerating at least an hour umeboshi vinegar (and optionally a bit of concentrated apple).

• All pickles are kept in the refrigerator.

Wedding Congratulations Card Wording

Primavera - Ludovico Einaudi-Belgium

even less than last year I discovered this wonderful pianist and composer ... and his group of musicians that accompany it. And who was to blame for this meeting? My cousin ... Of course I was ensemismada when they arrive at Brussels Airport, we expect the following words: "Let's leave it at home, because we go ... I do not I have a surprise ... have time to change you ... come on! " My cousin had booked us a surprise to go see a concert ... I did not know that this discovery has reached unsuspected limits. For her it was a surprise, because they just knew this great composer ... music researcher.

Once there ... we left with their mouths open ... Ludovico did the same program he did in March 2010 at the Royal Albert Hall (the cd we have now) .. starts with a violin, which appear in the audience, and slowly get closer to hear The Planets ... and then, just sit Ludovico, not appearing until then surprises us with Labyrinth Lady, I assure you that moves within you, thousands and thousands of butterflies ... (it seems that they do not appear only when you fall in love ... but come on many other occasions) ... that's what I felt when I heard Ludovico. Nobody says anything, but there are smiles all around ... and he is not speaking, without addressing the public and from Lady Labyrinth, wraps us Nigthbook ... What a beautiful name, right? later and after many songs with thousands of sensations you experience. Spring comes .. ... and then begin again to feel that you are leaving the theater ... The music makes us feel a lot of things, and I promise to listen to Ludovico, the violins, the cello ... a *... tambourine makes you quiver.

trip was very intense, Belgium ... just a few days ... we got up early and we discovered the odd street Brussels, a small shop and tea ... one time or another go to Central Station to catch the train and visit Leuven which is twinned with the city where I live because they are the only places in the world with a cathedral which also receives the name of the canon (it is said, that was where the judges were going to sleep).

But Leuven is full of charm ... is a student city par excellence. There is even a "mini city" within it, which seems drawn from another era. The brick house, petite, with doors color and full of bikes around.

Very near this area that seems "walled" sales to a street that takes you directly to the Botanical Garden ... that is simply wonderful. There you can take a book and stay idle hours reading. It was one of the things I liked about the city. Churches are also the names of people who died in both world wars ... and one shudders to think what a city living ... everything and expect to keep your stones may no longer be ... more than memories ... and learning for future generations. Because before the catastrophes of this world can not do nothing ... but to the wars and human destruction. Or even what we think we will do good, because we think protects us and what it does ultimately is destroyed.

But back to that walk through Leuven, at least to me ... what I wanted was to return to study a career ... plus, this time more directly with the letters . Take a bike, of which she saw parked and take me to and fro in the city. That day was pretty cold, so we took refuge in some other cafe ... And there, sitting ... take out your notebook and look at what accounts while serve you hot tea ... that makes you relive the inside.
If you keep walking and entering its streets .... you might be surprised to see in a church with a contemporary-dance ... somewhere between the classic and new trends. This did not keep more than the images that I took to heart, and I hope that neurons die ... than this !!... to travel back to Leuven and amaze me with every little encounter ...

And again Bruges after a few years without going ... walking through the streets of story ... and a player runs out of words every corner ... just walk and look around, and feel, which of course you're somewhere in the world of the most special.

My father, it's been many, many moons, played a football game there (not a footballer, not even particularly like football, but went and played). He lived in Germany but came to Bruges with friends. And save some wonderful memories. Somehow, walking and thinking ... my father, stood for years in this place? "Smelt the city smells like chocolate today? Do you sit a drink on the grass with the swans until you can almost touch?

would fill this post with your photos, but I'll save that for another time ... so I can always go back to writing about it and just go without moving the chair.

Happy Spring Day, today I'm going to celebrate with a tea given to me by Emily Little of a tea shop is in Barcelona (Sans & Sans) and I liked lot. The name says it all ... "Inglés Rose" is a blend of Darjeeling and Ceylon, with rose petals, vanilla pieces and aroma of various fruits. And I'll take that book today to eat out and enjoy a beautiful spring day ... (I I carry the camera case).
I finished reading ... I'll tell you ...

* here .. just say, that surprised us both, we went into uncontrollable laughter. The one where you try to contain, but that somehow goes ... Anyway ... I intende look online, but is best seen live ... gum plays great ... but sometimes without a very explicit reason ... a laugh.

The photos are all from Belgium, May 2010.

Spanish Phrases Of Congratulations

Scones and some

The first time I tried Scones was in the Irish Pub, which used to go years ago. Acts of the hands of an Irish woman and a English learner, I began to taste whipped cream mixed with strawberry jam in a kind of compact roll, which also had raisins embedded.

I must say that the first time I saw him I looked with skepticism ... but once I tried it, I said ...¡¡ that I have to do some day! And he has ... Since the first meeting many moons have passed, and was reading the blog of Cristina , when I thought of giving one step further (quite late since I said I would) ... despite not having an oven heated to 250 º, when you put it at 250 degrees, I decided to face and at least try. Meanwhile, I looked at the book that a friend gave me recently (C ountry tea Party), and I named in previous posts, some recipes online, and finally ... a video on youtube (best convinced me was Scottish), which showed me step by step what do you mean "without removing" ... anyways ... I have to say I did not have much luck in the first round (no fault of the oven, poor it !!)...
might call "Crackers" instead of scones, and the most diverse forms (in the photo appears next to a scone and next bought my "cookie" to observe carefully the difference ... in case anyone thinks ... yeast threw enough) But the taste, and had subjective target audience and always good to have both kinds, if you leave a very bad thing and needs some positive reinforcement, "and decided in unison, that despite not having the shape of a scone (and that was the goal) were very rich. After taking on different days, several rounds, finally, I gave my own recipe ... and how. I gave a hint of cinnamon, I recommend who likes the cinnamon, of course ... and they were all an existence. I had to make shapes like hearts, stars, etc ... since Brand had templates for centuries, and it was like last time, I was able to enjoy a scone. Of course with clotted cream and strawberry jam. Even today I have in the glass jar a few, and although some days have passed, are still somewhat soft and can be eaten perfectly. The clotted cream is ready.

For those not familiar with the scones are a sort of bread, bagel, very compact and made of flour, a pinch of salt, a little sugar, yeast, milk .... and what they want to take. Then to top it off ... a Once done, cut in half and then you jam with clotted cream ... and that's when inevitably, think again.
tea that accompanies today is a flower I found on the shelf in the kitchen and would soon cease to exist, as it was for less than a teapot.

Sometimes when I visit a bookstore Madrid Deviaje , which I always find the odd gem to read. There I met as Islands Aran "by John M. Synge English writer and poet of the early twentieth century. Accompanies his lyrics, artwork WB Yeats's brother, Jack . All of the everyday life of Ireland.

John spent several summers of his life in the islands, particularly in a cottage on the island of Irhismaan. It seems that nowadays, you can visit the restored home that was on the island. As a curiosity, this man suffered from a cancer, Hodgkin's disease, and yet, continued to write.
begins like this ... (after a prologue in which he tells us that makes a direct narrative of his personal experience on the island, changing names ... yes, and some other data Aranmor )..." I am sitting around a peat fire, listening to the murmur of conversation in Gaelic, which reaches my ears from a small pub under my room " .

On my trip to Ireland, lacked these islands ... the next time you go, try to see.
Yesterday I celebrated St. Patrick, and there were hats, laughter, and the occasional Guinness. Although the test myself ... I can not half-pint!

's book The Aran Islands, I have not yet begun or ended ... just buy it and have to wait until it arrives eventually.
